As Bảy Cạnh is an island within a conservation area, you must obtain a permit to visit, and there is a limit on the number of people allowed on the island each time, making it extremely difficult to go on your own. Therefore, the best option is to book a half-day tour that includes a trip to Hòn Bảy Cạnh for snorkelling, diving to view the coral reefs, and visiting several historical sites on Hòn Cau, at a price of 999,000 VND per person (as services on Con Dao are generally quite expensive; if you only visit Hòn Bảy Cạnh without going to Hòn Cau, the tour price is around 800K).

Con Dao has two main seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season runs from May to November each year; during this time, there are often sudden showers, but they usually last only about an hour before clearing up, the rest of the day remains lovely, with sunshine and a breeze.

The dry season runs from December to April; during this period, the climate on Con Dao is dry and sunny, with little rain. However, this period is also known as the ‘windy season’; the sea around Con Dao is particularly rough, often featuring large waves and .
